Who is behind the screen?

Visually minded, curious about people.

I'm a UX designer from Zaandam with a passion for visual design and photography. Before I design anything, I want to know the whole story: what happens now, where do people get stuck, and why?

That's why I start with research, design in iterations and prefer to bring my ideas to life with code myself, so you can feel them, test them and improve them.

Designing with heart,
backed by research.

Look over my shoulder

How I work

Every project follows the same five steps. Pick a discipline and see how I approach it.

  1. Step 1: Design brief

First, I map out which problem I am going to solve and define the scope of the project by setting clear goals.

  2. Step 2: Research

Next, I research the problem: what is the current situation, where does it go wrong and how could it be solved? The (end) user is my most important source.

  3. Step 3: Design

With a clear picture of the problem and a possible solution, it is time to design that solution: from sketch to clickable prototype.

  4. Step 4: Test and iterate

I test whether the solution really solves the problem. Then I keep refining the design until it reaches the best result.

  5. Step 5: Delivery

At delivery I hand over the design, with everything the team needs to take it further.

  1. Step 1: Research question

I start with the question behind the question: what exactly do we want to know, and which decision depends on it?

  2. Step 2: Choose a method

Each question calls for a different method: interviews, observations, behavioral experiments or a test with a prototype.

  3. Step 3: Conduct research

I talk to the people it is all about, and look mostly at what they do, not only at what they say.

  4. Step 4: Analysis and insights

I organise the findings into patterns and translate them into clear insights that give the design direction.

  5. Step 5: Advice and handover

I share the insights in a way that sticks, so the whole team can base decisions on them.

  1. Step 1: The idea and the plan

I start with the idea: what should the prototype show or prove? Then I decide what to build, and what deliberately not.

  2. Step 2: Design

I sketch the flow and the key screens, so I know where I am heading before I start building.

  3. Step 3: Vibe Code

Together with AI I quickly turn the design into something that really works. I steer, review and refine the code myself.

  4. Step 4: Test and iterate

A working prototype can be tested for real. I let people play with it and adjust it straight away based on what I see.

  5. Step 5: Delivery

I deliver a working prototype or product, together with the insights that building it produced.

My path

From visual design to UX

  1. 2020 It started with visual design

My first projects were about style, illustration and layout, like the one-pager for ice cream brand iisko.

  2. 2021 UX and code

I discovered UX design and learned to build my own designs in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, from SimDate to Plog de Dag.

  3. 2023 Understanding behavior

Through behavior design and design research I learned why people do what they do, for example in Stoppen met roken.

  4. 2024 Graduated

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Communication and Multimedia Design. In SleepPlantzz, research, concept, illustration and interaction came together.

  5. 2024 – now Freelancer

Since 2024 I have been working as a freelancer in front-end development and graphic design, for clients who want to make an idea visible and working.

  6. Now Looking for my next team

I design, research and vibe code, I am building my own Etsy shop selling mock-ups, and I am looking for a permanent role as a UX designer.

Creative in my head,solution-driven in my work, with my heart in it.
